In a previously-published post, we have explained how to turn any page on your website or blog into a static home page.
If you go through that tutorial, you will see that, by default, WordPress acts as a “blog” and shows a self-updating list of recently-published blog posts.
On a WordPress blog page, visitors can see the post titles and an excerpt of the content displayed for each post published, with links pointing to separate post pages which contain the full item (e.g. “continue reading”…)
Note: The way your blog posts appear on your site can depend on the WordPress theme you use.

We then explained how to change your site from looking like a “blog” that presents a changing list of recently-published posts, to looking more like a “website” with a fixed home page …

Now, what if you want to use your website as both a website and a blog, so visitors can be greeted by a static welcome page when they arrive on your site like a normal website, but also be able to read the latest news you have written on a “blog” section of your site?
Easy … just create a “blog page”!
With WordPress, you can easily create a “blog” area within your web site that displays your new post entries to readers with the latest articles displaying at the top of the page.
Go through the tutorial below to learn how to set up a “blog” section on your WordPress site that will show your latest entries.
Tutorial: How To Create A Blog Page To Display Your Latest Posts
As we’ve already explained, in a default WordPress installation, your site looks more like a blog, displaying the newest articles dynamically (i.e. not fixed) on your landing page.
In this instance, however, we want our website to look more like a static website (i.e. with a “fixed” home page), but also have a “blog” component.
To create a Blog Page for your site, first you need to create a new page.
In your WordPress dashboard, select Pages > Add New …
You can name the page anything you want (e.g. “Blog”, “News”, “My Blog,” etc). For our example, let’s just call this page “Blog”…
Important: Leave this page entirely blank. Do not add anything into the content editor section.
After adding the new page title, click on Publish to create the Blog Page…
Your Blog Page has now been created, but we’re not done yet. You still have to instruct WordPress to make the Blog Page be the page that will show your post.
After saving and publishing your blog page, click on Settings > Reading from your WordPress dashboard menu …
In the Reading Settings area, make sure that you have the following configured:
- Select A static page.
- In Posts page: select the page you have just created from the dropdown menu.
- Remember to click Save Changes after completing the above steps to update your settings …
Now, when visitors click on the “Blog” link on your site, they will see your most recent post entries showing on your site…
Congratulations! Now you know how to create a separate blog page on your WP site that will automatically list your most recently published blog post entries.
